Prayer

Many individuals strengthen their relationship with God through prayer, meditation, discernment and reflective living and here in our parish we have a number of different types of prayer groups that would help you achieve a greater understanding of prayer.

The Prayer Group of Jesus

We meet every Monday from 7.30pm until 9.00pm. We gather for prayer and praise on the sanctuary or if it is too cold in the sacristy at Our Lady’ s. There is exposition of the Blessed Sacrament throughout the Prayer Meeting. We come to worship, praise and intercede to God Our Father through Jesus His Son, in the power of the Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus called us together to pray for our parish, for the needs of the world and for the Holy Souls.

Contemplative Group

We meet every Tuesday evenings at Our Lady’ s from 7.30pm until 8.30pm. Contemplative prayer can develop your relationship with Jesus Christ so that you can commune with God beyond words, thoughts, feelings, and actions.  During contemplative prayer we center our full attention on the presence of God, on the will of God, and on the love of God.  We come before God and see Jesus with the eyes of our heart as we adore and worship God in quiet, silent prayer before the exposed Blessed Sacrament.  When we practice contemplative prayer we stay quiet before the exposed Blessed Sacrament and wait longingly for God.  We end with the office of Compline.

Tuesday Prayer Group

The Tuesday Prayer group has met regularly for years at St Edmund ’ s between 2.00pm and 3.00pm every Tuesdays. We pray for the Parish, for special intentions, sing hymns, read from the Scripture and listen to sacred music. All are welcome to just come along and share in this time of spiritual reflection and renewal.

The Rosary Group

The parish Rosary Group meets on Saturday mornings at 11.00am at Our Lady’ s, with Confession and Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. Praying the Rosary is a sure sign of Our Lady at work in our Parish and homes as we meditate on the life of Jesus and offer our prayers for her intercession.

Our Lady of Guadalupe

Our Lady of Guadalupe is patroness of the unborn child, and the parish has a small shrine of Our lady which goes round the parish. The shrine remains in a parishioners home for three days and the Rosary is offered for life, faith, vocations and families.

The Rosary link meets four time a year around the Diocese to say the Rosary and to offer Mass for vocations. If anyone is interested in the Rosary Link then please contact Donna on 400157.

Prayer Morning

On the First Saturday of every month we have a Prayer Morning at St Edmunds beginning with Mass at 10.30am, followed by Exposition, Divine Mercy, Rosary, Confessions, Scripture, Healing and ending with Benediction at 12.30pm.

Holy Face of Jesus

Prayers are said before each Tuesday morning Mass at 12.30pm at St Edmund's. For full details please see The Holy Face of Jesus
