‘ Extraordinary ’ or ‘ Special ’ Ministers may give Communion to themselves, to other lay people, and to the sick and housebound. Special Ministers are appointed by the Parish Priest and commissioned by him for an indefinite period of time. They may serve only in the Parish for which they have been commissioned. They do not wear any distinctive liturgical vestments or emblem, but it is important that they dress in a neat and respectful manner
