The Brownies meet every Monday during school terms between 6 and 7pm. Their age range is between 7 and 10 years, although some Brownies stay in the unit until they are little older.
The Brownies take part in indoor and outdoor activities that challenge them to do their best. Their meetings are action-packed and full of challenges, games and activities, usually ones that the Brownies have suggested themselves. Everything a Brownies does is an adventure – it’s a world of excitement, new interests and friends.
There are often other opportunities for Brownies to take part in special activities and events throughout the year. Many of the Brownie Packs go away on holiday, to camp or an overnight sleepover. Brownies belong to a Pack and work in small groups called Sixes. This gives each girl a group of ready-made friends to take care of her. It also makes her feel that she belongs to something special. Each Brownie chooses what she wants to wear from a range of Brownie clothes items. This choice allows each Brownie to be herself but also feel part of the Pack.
We are proud to have our own Catholic groups which have been very successful over the years. They have always been run on a voluntary basis and our unsung heroes are all the helpers who give themselves tirelessly every week to produce the activities and particularly to go on the camps which give so much pleasure to our Brownies but are in fact a lot of hard work.
